Please don’t get me wrong. It is Gods will for His children to BE PURE and to abstain from ALL sexual sin.
1Thess 4:3-5 It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; 4 that each of you should learn to control your own body[a] in a way that is holy and honorable, 5 not in passionate lust like the pagans, who do not know God;
It is also Gods will for us to live self controlled Godly lives that bring Glory to God and be an example before a fallen world. He, through His spirit, has given us the power and ability to do so.
But purity goes way beyond a ring and ticket to a perfect courtship for all of social media to covet. First, purity begins with the cleansing of sin through Christ. That must be our very foundation and no behavior modification on this earth has the ability to purify us.
One thing I’ve come to realize as a leader, is that I don’t have all the answers and that it’s okay not to. I don’t know if every woman reading this blog is going to get married. I don’t know what God’s plans for you are. This is not an article written to demonize desiring marriage because it’s a Godly, honorable desire. So yes, in accordance to God’s will, pray for your husband. Pray for a glorious marriage that reflects the gospel. Bring your desire before God and give thanks for the beautiful gift of marriage that He has created. But let us not think for second that we can manipulate Gods hand. Purity is the FRUIT of righteousness through Christ, but it isn’t RIGHTEOUSNESS itself. Save yourself some time and money, and trust God to lead you by His WORD and Spirit (which are one) into the relationships you enter whether romantic or platonic. Don’t try to conform to the “perfect Christian” girl that everyone tells you you have to be in order to get “blessed”. Yes, God honors those who honor Him and yes God rewards those who diligently seek Him. Yes, God loves obedience but if these things aren’t done in FAITH in Christ, it means nothing. Be conformed to the image of Christ by picking up your Cross daily that you may live for Him, whether that results in your desires being met or not. Love the Lord. Love people and keep it simple. Be wise in the “advice” you hold near and dear to your heart and always examine it in light of the word including this blog, for I am not exempt….
